Description
Blue Star Spring is one of the numerous beautiful blue pools in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The vent is enclosed by a thin, overhanging ring of orange-grey sinter and produces a relatively small amount of water, flowing north into the adjacent Firehole River. The spring has been known to erupt on rare occasions, but is usually calm, simmering only gently. Because of the proximity to the crowds at Old Faithful, the vent unfortunately receives quite a large amount of litter, which has to be cleaned out periodically. Smoke from a forest fire can be see above rightside of the horizon of evergreen trees.
