Description
Skaneateles Lake, which means "long lake" in Iroquois,, is 16 miles long and 1 to 2 miles wide and is the most eastern of the Finger Lakes in New York State. This lake is known for the amazing clarity and cleanliness of its water, allowing views to the bottom on a calm day. The beautiful village of Skaneatles is located at the north end of the lake and is known as the prima donna of Finger Lake villages. Many large homes line the lakefront and usually include an additional boathouse on the lake for boat storage and waterfront access. The many types of boathouses along the lakeshore are fascinating to view while cruising along the lake. This boathouse, which has boat garage doors on the far unseen side, is larger than many normal primary residences.
