Description
Cinque Terre is a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline that were shaped by their profound isolation. Today the villages’ exquisite ruggedness still presents a few challenges for accessibility. The villages are connected by trains, boats, and trails. The cheapest, fastest, and most frequent option to reach and travel between the villages is by train on a train line that connects all five villages, much of it through tunnels. Offering more scenic views, a daily boat service also connects all five villages during the main season. Hiking trails also link the villages and offer sweeping sea vistas; a trail can be seen winding its way around the steep bluff. However, these trails can be quite rugged as well as having sections frequently closed, but many visitors like to experience hiking a least a portion of these trails. This view overlooks the Riomaggiore village train station.
