Artist's Description

Manarola is one of the five picturesque cliffside villages in the Cinque Terre region of Italy. It is the second-smallest of the famous Cinque Terre towns and may be the oldest of the towns in the Cinque Terre, with the cornerstone of the church, San Lorenzo, dating from 1338. Built on a high rock 70 meters above sea level, it is also one of the most charming and romantic of the Cinque Terre villages with picturesque multi-colored houses built along the hillsides and steep narrow alleys leading to the sea. Bequeathed with more grapevines than any other Cinque Terre village, Manarola is famous for its sweet Sciacchetrà wine. Manarola and its neighboring towns have become popular tourist destinations, particularly in the summer months. Tourist attractions in the region include a famous walking trail between Manarola and Riomaggiore (called Via dell'Amore, "Love's Trail") and other hiking trails in the hills and vineyards above the town.

While I initially did nature and especially macro (close-up) photography, my interests have expanded into photography from travels, scenes of local interest, historic buildings, and basically any interesting image I happen to come across! Since I have taken up photography, my enjoyment of the...
