Artist's Description
The covered bridge is an important and significant historic structure in Pennsylvania. At one point in the 1800's, Pennsylvania had about 1500 covered bridges, and Bucks County had 36. Of those 36, only a handful remain today in Bucks County. The bridges were covered to protect them from the elements so that they would last longer, but time and vandalism has continued to take a toll on these iconic rural bridges. Presently in Bucks County only a handful remain. Of those remaining, most have been well-maintained and several have been restored. This is the Frankenfield Covered Bridge which was built in 1872. It crosses Tinicum Creek near Point Pleasant only two miles upstream from where the creek flows into the Delaware River. At 12 feet wide and 130 feet long, the Frankenfield is one of the longest covered bridges in the county.

While I initially did nature and especially macro (close-up) photography, my interests have expanded into photography from travels, scenes of local interest, historic buildings, and basically any interesting image I happen to come across! Since I have taken up photography, my enjoyment of the...
