Pine Creek Gorge, commonly called The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, is a 47-mile gorge carved by Pine Creek in Pennsylvania. It sits in about 160,000 acres of the Tioga State Forest in Tioga County. Its deepest point is 1,450 feet at Waterville, near the southern end. At Leonard Harrison and Colton Point State Parks, near the town of Wellsboro, it is more than 800 feet deep and the distance rim-to-rim is about 4,000 feet. This a view from the rim on the Colton State Park side. The Pine Creek Rail Trail at the bottom runs for 61 miles through the canyon and is relatively flat with only a 2% grade. For 55 of its 61 miles, it hugs Pine Creek.
Nature has always played a significant role in my life. On walks with my dad when I was a child, I was taught to notice the world around me and appreciate the wonder of nature and all of God's creation.
