Description
Heceta Head Lighthouse is a working lighthouse on Heceta Head, a 200-foot bluff that juts out into the sea, midway between Florence and Yachats on the Oregon coast of the United States. It was named for Bruno de Heceta, a Spanish navigator and explorer, who surveyed the Oregon coast in 1775. The lighthouse was constructed between 1892 and 1893 and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Its first order Fresnel lens shines 21 miles out to sea, making it the strongest light on the Oregon coast.
