Description
Lesser Celandine is native to Eurasia and was introduced as an ornamental plant into the United States. However, this cheerful yellow flower has proven to be quite aggressive and invasive, at least in our state of Pennsylvania. It thrives in forested floodplains such as the land behind our property which means I am fighting a continuous battle to keep these flowers out of my flower beds. Their thick carpet of vegetation can displace other spring blooming flowers. Even so, I do like the beauty they provide in the early spring when the creek banks and lowlands are covered in a carpet of yellow. flowers.
