Description
On the north shore of Lake Quinault in Washington State, just at the boundary of the Olympic National Park is the picturesque old Kestner Homestead. It can be accessed by taking the Homestead Rainforest Trail at the Quinault Rainforest Ranger Station. The trail winds through the lush rainforest until it reaches a wide open area with the remnants of the Kestner Homestead. The primary attraction is the old house, barn, work buildings, and some rusting farm machinery. The farm was homesteaded by Anton Kestner in 1889 and offers visitors a glimpse into early homestead life. The site is under renovation and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
