Description
The Loblolly Pine is a tall evergreen tree with long, thin needles and scaly bark that grows along the edges of the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal rivers and wetlands. These trees are one of the first that will colonize marshes and abandoned fields, and provide important habitat for wildlife, particularly bald eagles. This photo was taken in the Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge close to the town of Rock Hall, Maryland which is along the Chesapeake Bay. Various textures applied in processing.
