Description
A little less than 10 miles south of Ithaca, New York, in the village of Newfield, is the oldest surviving covered bridge in New York state that is still open to daily vehicular traffic. The bridge was built in 1851-1853 at a total cost of $800; many of the men who helped to build the bridge have descendants who still live in Newfield today. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
