Description
This gnarled, old tree perched on the rim of Crater Lake in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, is a hardy, long-lived species called Whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis Engelm). Whitebark pine trees can tolerate the severe conditions found at the highest elevations of Crater Lake National Park and may survive over 500 years.
