Description
Hosta are shade-tolerant perennial plants that are mostly grown for their striking foliage rather than their flowers. However, the flowers can add an extra touch of beauty to these plants when they are blooming. This photo, taken after a rain shower, is of a flower stalk that is just beginning to bloom. I didn't realize I had also captured a picture of a baby praying mantis on the right bud until later viewing on my computer monitor. Black velvet was used for the background.
