Description
Wild Strawberry is a common creeping plant that grows wild in forests, fields, lawns, forest edges, roadsides, and streamsides The flowers bloom from April to June and are 3/4 inch wide, with five white petals. The petals are attached to a cone-shaped part of the flower which starts off yellow, then later becomes larger, thicker, and redder turning into the "strawberry" part of the Wild Strawberry plant. Smaller than store-bought strawberries, which are a hybrid of the wild strawberry and a European species, the berries are a favorite treat to many birds and animals, as well as people.
