While the vibrant, strong sunflower is recognized worldwide for its beauty, it is also an important source of food. Sunflower oil is a valued and healthy vegetable oil and sunflower seeds are enjoyed as a healthy, tasty snack and nutritious ingredient to many foods. The seeds and plants also provide food for birds and livestock. While the fronts of the sunflowers in a local sunflower field were quite beautiful, I also found the details on the back of the flowers interesting to view.

Nature has always played a significant role in my life. On walks with my dad when I was a child, I was taught to notice the world around me and appreciate the wonder of nature and all of God's creation. To this day, being out in nature is balm for my soul and necessary for my well-being.
