While this False Potato Beetle feeds on leaves and sometimes flowers, it is not nearly as destructive as the similar looking Colorado Potato Beetle. The back view of this beetle on some Hosta flower buds shows off the amazing designs on its back. To me, the designs have the look of hand-tooled leather, or a decorated Easter egg. While many would consider this beetle a pest, I found it beautiful!

Nature has always played a significant role in my life. On walks with my dad when I was a child, I was taught to notice the world around me and appreciate the wonder of nature and all of God's creation. To this day, being out in nature is balm for my soul and necessary for my well-being.
