Mt. Zion United Methodist Church located near Still Pond, is one of 24 historic black churches in Kent County, Maryland. The African American churches of Kent County were community centers that served the spiritual needs of their members and provided refuge in a hostile, white world. The original Mt. Zion church, built in 1870, was extensively rebuilt in 1886 which is the date noted on the cornerstone of the present building. In 1993 Mt. Zion merged with Fountain United Methodist to form the New Christian Chapel of Love.

On walks with my dad when I was a child, I was taught to notice the world around me and appreciate the wonder of nature and all of God's creation. To this day, being out in nature is balm for my soul and necessary for my well-being.
