Villa Cipressi in Varenna, Italy, is a majestic complex of buildings and gardens built between 1400 and 1800 that overlooks beautiful Lake Como. Passing through many different owners over the centuries, the property ended up being acquired in 1980 by the inhabitants of Varenna by public subscription, and was transformed into a luxury hotel. The splendid botanical garden, which descends into terraces to the waters of the lake, remains open to the public. Here is a view from a terrace in the gardens that looks towards Villa Monastero and the small village of Fiumelatte.
Nature has always played a significant role in my life. On walks with my dad when I was a child, I was taught to notice the world around me and appreciate the wonder of nature and all of God's creation. To this day, being out in nature is balm for my soul and necessary for my well-being.
