Description
A yarn bomb is form of street art where yarn in any form (knit, crochet, latch hook, cross stitch, amigurumi, or simply wrapped) is attached to an object in the public environment. The practice is believed to have originated in the U.S. with Texas knitters trying to find a creative way to use their leftover and unfinished knitting projects, but it has since spread worldwide. Morris Arboretum, outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania invited fabric artist, Melissa Maddonni Haims, to yarn bomb various structures and objects in the Arboretum to celebrate the first day of spring, March 20, 2016. The exhibits will be on display until October 2016 or until they succomb to the elements. This is the Pump House near the entrance, with a colorful patchwork of designs covering the roof.
