Description
Berberis thunbergii (Barberry) is a species of Berberis, native to Japan and eastern Asia, though widely naturalized in China and in North America. In recent years, this variety has been recognized as an invasive species in many parts of the eastern United States. While walking through a mountain meadow in northern Pennsylvania, I saw many wild shoots of Barberry growing in the meadow and along the edges of the forest. I isolated this branch against the blurred fall foliage of the trees in the background.
