Description
Bush honeysuckle, or Amur honeysuckle, was once planted to control erosion, and as hedges. It spread quickly as birds ate the fruit and dispersed the seeds, and was soon naturalized. It is now considered an invasive species in the eastern United States. While at a local lake in the fall, I saw many of these bushes with their vivid red berries, which make a striking contrast against the green leaves.
