Description
Columbines (genus Aquilegia) with over 60 species, are herbaceous perennials with distinctive, bell-shaped blooms on plants that can grow over two feet tall. Columbines bloom from mid-spring to early summer. Once the Columbine’s flower petals have withered and fallen off, the flower will form a green pod which will eventually turn brown as the seeds mature inside. When the dry pods break open, the ripe seeds are released to reseed.
