Florence's massive cathedral is the geographical, visual, and historical center of Florence. The cathedral's claim to artistic fame is Brunelleschi's magnificent dome--the first Renaissance dome and the model for domes to follow. The dome is a masterpiece of beauty and engineering, a pioneering construction for its time, and in many ways remains unmatched. Built in only 14 years, it was completed in 1436. This amazing dome, visible from all over the city, inspired Florentines to do great things.

Nature has always played a significant role in my life. On walks with my dad when I was a child, I was taught to notice the world around me and appreciate the wonder of nature and all of God's creation. To this day, being out in nature is balm for my soul and necessary for my well-being.
