Description
Jordan Pond is located on Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park in Maine. The pond was formed by the Wisconsin Ice Sheet during the last glacial period. The water is exceptionally clear with an average visibility depth of 46 feet (14 m) but this has been measured as high as 60 feet (18 m), the most ever recorded in the State of Maine. A walking trail circling the pond offers visitors access to varying views of this lovely pond. The two mountain peaks in the background of this view are known as "The Bubbles".
