Description
White Sands National Park in New Mexico protects the world's largest gypsum dune-field, and the unique plants and animals that survive in this other-worldly place. One of the few plants that survive among every changing dunes, this spiny desert icon can grow to over 30 feet tall and blooms in cream-colored clusters of flowers along a single tall stalk. When blooming is completed, a brown flower stalk is left behind.
