Description
The Bell House in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was built by the Moravians in 1746. It is an early Saxon type with dormer windows characteristic of Moravian architecture. Additions added in 1748 and 1749 connected it to the Gemeinhaus, Old Chapel and Single Sisters' House. Originally used as a residence for married couples, it was later used as a girl's school. The bell in its turret was cast in the cellar of the old Brethren's House and for 100 years was rung only by women.
